The Proposed Route - Couriosities

The route that can be followed, for all travel formulas, and independently with a guide (touring trip) develops fully Madonie Park, the Regional Natural Park which includes fifteen municipalities of the metropolitan city of Palermo in Sicily (Caltavuturo, Castelbuono, Castellana Sicula, Cefalu, Collesano, Geraci Siculo, Gratteri, Isnello, Petralia Soprana, Petralia Sottana, Polizzi Generosa, Pollina, San Mauro Castelverde, Scillato and Sclafani Bagni). The area includes the Madonie mountain range, situated on the northern coast of Sicily, between the course of Imera and Pollina rivers. For the fauna includes more than half of the species of birds, all species of mammals and more than half of invertebrate species in Sicily. As fauna there are foxes, weasels, porcupines, hares, dormice, wild cats, martens, dormice. Due to the geological interest of mountain chain Madonie 2003 Park Madonie has become part of the European Geopark network whose members are more than twenty geological and non-European parks.
